Há um ano escrevi esse artigo, O imponderável, diante dos resultados de pesquisas que inspiravam especialistas a afirmarem, em uma lógica simplesmente matemática, que Bolsonaro perderia o segundo turno. Eu ainda não tinha publicado o texto, quando me encontrava dormindo pela tarde e, lá pelas 17 horas, minha esposa me acordou com a notícia de que o candidato fora esfaqueado e estava hospitalizado. A primeira ação foi orarmos por ele, ali mesmo no quarto. Depois, voltei ao artigo e escrevi o último parágrafo, antes de finalmente publica-lo. Incrível como o episódio veio fortalecer a ideia desenvolvida nos parágrafos anteriores, da capacidade de um fato inesperado afetar o resultado das coisas:

"No pensamento lógico, as pessoas raciocinam inspiradas por um sentido do tipo 2 + 2 é igual a 4. Porém, insisto em dizer que, em se tratando das coisas que envolvem relações humanas, nem sempre isso acontece. 

Assim, há muito, a Terra já teria colonizado muitos planetas do Sistema Solar, pois os computadores de hoje são milhares de vezes superior àqueles da NASA que, com suas informações, ajudaram o homem a chegar à Lua. Mas, a realidade mostra que não basta somar os elementos, é preciso entendê-los.

Por exemplo, as pesquisas eleitorais levam-nos a concluir linearmente que se somarmos todos os votos que os candidatos de esquerda obtiverem no primeiro turno, em favor do candidato de esquerda que conseguir chegar no 2o. turno, Bolsonaro vence o primeiro, mas perde em seguida. Contudo, o que parece prevalecer no histórico das eleições brasileiras é que os eleitores preferem votar em quem tem mais chance de vencer. Dessa forma, tradicionalmente, todos os presidenciáveis que venceram no primeiro turno venceram também no segundo.

Muitas pessoas não gostam de se expor com sua opinião em pesquisas, principalmente quando o seu candidato não é dissimulado, costuma falar com o coração, sem papas na língua, mesmo que tenha bom caráter. Por isso, não me surpreenderá que ao final do dia 7 de outubro próximo, 2 mais 2 será 17.

Eu já tinha escrito os parágrafos anteriores deste texto e deixado tudo em stand by até o final da tarde, quando acordei de uma soneca e fiquei sabendo do atentado a vida de Jair Bolsonaro. Esse episódio pode mudar muita coisa nessa campanha e tornar-se um fator fundamental para sua eleição para a Presidência da República, o que confirma de modo inesperado a ideia que desenvolvi nos parágrafos anteriores. Oro pelo restabelecimento completo do candidato, certo de que Deus sempre escreve certo, até com linhas aparentemente tortas para nós".

Amazing how the episode strengthened the idea developed in the previous paragraphs of the ability of an unexpected fact to affect the outcome of things:
